The San Bernardino Meridian
Did you know that the initial point for all land surveys in Southern California is the San Bernardino Base and Meridian? It was established in 1852 by the Surveyor Henry Washington. At an elevation of 10, 300 feet, Henry Washington built a 25-foot tall pole with dangling reflectors for visibility in what is now known as Mount San Bernardino.
