Assistant Environmental Planner

Overview

MSA Consulting, Inc. is looking for an Assistant Environmental Planner with experience preparing California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA) and the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) environmental documents. Our work includes a wide range of projects for private and public sector clients. The ideal candidate will be driven, intellectually curious and committed to excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Collect and compile a variety of quantitative and qualitative data to prepare reports and maps
  • Conduct database records reviews and research.
  • Conduct site assessments and photographic inventories.
  • Coordinate the preparation of drawings, illustrations, maps, and graphics
  • Conduct field evaluations and assessments
  • Attend client and public meetings to support project planners, managers, and clients
  • Develop reports under the direction of the project manager
  • Other duties as assigned

Preferred Experience

  • Four-year degree in Planning, Environmental Sciences, Physical Geography, or a related discipline and a minimum of 3 years of related work experience
  • Good general understanding of CEQA and NEPA environmental compliance, planning concepts, policies, and practices as well as experience preparing and/or reviewing CEQA or NEPA documents
  • Working knowledge of planning software programs, including Microsoft Office applications, internet applications, and GIS mapping (ESRI Software, Parcel Data)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to work independently as well as in multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Two years with AutoCAD software
